I missed you all!!! Last week I was unable to post due to the catastrophic Hurricane Michael. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that was affected by the storm.
As we all know (or most Floridians), hurricanes can leave us without electricity and sometimes without water for days. Depending on the severity of the storm, it can even ruin your home, leaving everything messed up or unsalvageable. Having access to important documents after all is said and done is vital for restoration after a disaster.
Let me ask you this, how or what format do you store your important documents? Some would probably say they have bank safe they purchase every month to store valuables or most would say that they have a special water/fire proof box that they file important documents. But what do you do once you are unable to get to your safe at the bank because it is closed? Or that water/fire proof box is buried under hundreds of pounds of debris that you need a bulldozer to get it out? Sounds like it may be time to invest in cloud storage!
According to Investopedia, Cloud storage is defined as “a way for businesses and consumers to save data securely online so it can be accessed anytime from any location and easily shared with those who are granted permission. Cloud storage also offers a way to back up data to facilitate recovery”. This amazing tool was thought about around the 1960’s but begin really being utilized in the technology industry in 2006!
I know you have questions on how secure the cloud is and question cloud storage reliability but believe it or not we use it every day! Most of our cell phones back up or photos, contacts and applications using cloud storage. What makes the storage safe to use and a more reliable source for reserving data is its redundancy, security measurements and the ability to safely share data. (Forbes)
The topic of cloud storage is a vast subject to discuss for one day so we will pick back on this next week! We can look into the different cloud storage options available for free and for a minimal cost.
